Tohoku University Short Course & Internship Program 2018; Meet our new friends!

Precious Moment with Tohoku University Friends
After Final Presentation

Start from February, I had a chance to became a buddy for students who come from other countries, one of them was from Sendai, Japan. At first, it was kind of difficult for me to communicate with them because I'm not good at English, and then I found out later it is also because Japanese people tend to appear shy (at first) with foreigner.

I have noticed that Japanese people are often anxious to practice foreign languages with native speakers. While they sometimes still spend time with their fellow, they are often very appreciative of foreign people who express an interest in them. So, my first suggestion to anyone looking to make Japanese friends is incredibly simple : share your culture with them. As Japanese culture is very unique, Japanese people are often very excited to try anything related to the foreign culture in which they find themselves.

Visiting the biggest mosque in South East Asia, Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta. An important part of Indonesian culture for Japanese people is also learning about Islam.

Going to somewhere with Tohoku friends was a great experience, as they were incredibly excited. Every little thing was extremely new to them. And also they enjoyed the time spent together.

After swimming, at Harris Hotel, Bekasi.

On the third weekend, we stayed for a week at Harris hotel located in Bekasi. There are so many things we have to do for our internship at AEON Mall Jakarta Garden City, but we do really enjoyed our time at Harris hotel.

In front of West Sumatra traditional house, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta.

The weather was very hot when we visited Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Indonesia Miniature Park). Although its very tiring day, it was an unforgetable moment for me. Even I already been there for few times, it's still fascinating me a lot. I think it would have been a great idea to visit Taman Mini for foreigners who have no idea about Indonesia. It's a nice place to get glimpse o the whole country packaged in one spot.

One of students named Shunichi asked when we're going back to Wisma Makara from Margocity, "the name is 'Mini Park', right? but why it so big?" I can't stop laughing when I heard that question. What a great question, I think.

On the last day staying in Indonesia, we went to Dunia Fantasi to spending our time with our Japanese friends for the last time before they're going back to Japan.

I miss my Tohoku University friends, hope I can meet them again somewhere in the future.

Xoxo

2019, You Taught Me Many Things! 💓Thank You💓 This year, 2019, has finally come to an end. This past year has truly been a year of growth and learning for me. I feel it is just like yesterday when I picked up my laptop to type Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019 back then in January. As 2019 comes to a close, I took a moment during these past few weeks to reflect on what has just happened and with that always comes a little reflection. Like many people, I have been thinking about all the things I did and learned this year and I am thankful for both, good and bad experiences. As  a type-A, plan-my-life-out, (actually there is almost nothing spontaneous about me and it is always something I have to consciously remind myself to do),  most often I am the person setting goals and working hard to achieve them. I worked hard for the things I love. I still haven't lost my dream of becoming an author or illustrator. I love writing and drawing. I am trying to make and create exciting char...

Feeling grateful and blessed

I got a random question from Instagram: How to become a great person? maybe this is an easy question, but after thinking about it, it turns out to be a bit difficult to answer. After thinking about it for a long time, my answer might be something like this, “I’m working on that myself! There’s no definition of being a great person. Everyone has different morals and povs. What I do is I just be the person I feel like being at this moment and if I make a mistake, then I learn from it and try not to repeat it, and eventually I'll be happy with the person that I was in this life." also, in my opinion, another thing that can be done to become a great person is to always be grateful. Oops, is this too deep? Sejak awal pandemi, sekitar Maret 2020, tuh gue gatau disentil apaan jadi sadar banget that I blessed with all the things I have now. Everything is enough. I won’t ask for more. Mau ngeliat temen-temen udah pada jauh di atas gue pun, gue udah di tahap, “ I’m genuinely happy for ...

UI-CREATES; It creates a long-lasting friendship and memories

Universitas Indonesia Credit Earning Program for Students Excursion to Saung Mang Udjo, Bandung Since being a buddy in early 2018, it has been a very important part of my college life. From that time my calendar each month works around the programs I could participate in, which made the best semester of my life. And this year, it happened again. I got a chance to be the buddy for another short course program.
